The Evolution of an American Artform
On April 28 I will present a Jazz history themed concert in Sacramento. It will feature a demonstration of Jazz styles and the music of historically significant Jazz artists who helped shape it's evolution. Jazz sub genres such as traditional (early) jazz, swing, bebop, hard bop, latin jazz, free jazz, jazz/rock fusion and others will be performed and analyzed. A discussion of what defines Jazz and the differences or similarities that exist between the sub genres will be explored.
We will be covering recordings by the likes of Louis Armstrong, Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Benny Goodman, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Horace Silver, John Coltrane, Ornette Coleman and Herbie Hancock. You can read more about this and purchase tix here:
