Jacam Mario Manricks is fast establishing himself as one of the most qualified artist/musicians in the world today. He tours internationally as a featured soloist, composer/arranger and clinician throughout Europe, North America and Australia. He has received a number of prestigious awards and scholarships for artistic excellence and was recently referred to as ‘ a future world leader in his field’.

Mr. Manricks has a Bachelor Degree in Music Performance, a Masters Degree in Jazz Composition and Arranging and a Doctor in Musical Arts Degree (DMA) from the Manhattan School of Music.

Mr. Manricks has performed with some of the today’s most highly acclaimed artists, such as Ray Charles, David Liebman, Micheal Abene, Dick Oatts, Justin Di Cioccio, Mike Nock, Jerry Lewis and the Queensland Symphony to name a few. He has been a featured soloist at prestigious Jazz venues, such as Jazz at Lincoln Center (New York), The Jazz Gallery (New York), Gasteig Philharmonie (Munich, Germany) The A-Train Jazz Club (Berlin), The Kirchberg Forum (Giessen, Germany), Scharfricterhaus (Passau, Germany), The Sound Lounge-Seymore Center (Sydney, Australia) Bennet's Lane (Melbourne, Australia) and many others.

As a leader, Mr. Manricks has performed with his ensemble at Jazz festivals and concert venues around the world, such as the Wangaratta International Jazz Festival, the Sydney Opera House, the Vancouver Convention and Exhibition Center. In addition, Mr. Manricks has recorded internationally with many of this decade’s most outstanding Jazz artists.

As a composer, Mr. Manricks recently premiered several of his works for Symphony Orchestra and Big Band at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music’s (QCM) 50th Anniversary Concert in September 2007. This October he is to be featured as composer and soloist with the Manhattan School of Music Jazz Philharmonic Orchestra. He was commissioned to write 4 pieces for the Helsinki Polytechnics Pop and Jazz Conservatory in Finland in 2006, a number of different works for the QCM in 2005, and recorded an album of original compositions with his own Jazz ensemble in 2003. Additionally Mr. Manricks has written several compositions for performances by the Manhattan School of Music Jazz Orchestra and the William Paterson University Big Band (New Jersey, USA).

As an educator, Mr. Manricks recently completed his first book ‘Principles of Music Theory’, which was written, in part, while teaching Jazz Theory for the Manhattan School of Music Pre-college Program. Mr. Manricks has given master-classes and lectures on Improvisation, Jazz saxophone, Jazz composition and arranging at some of the leading music institutes in the world. They include the Manhattan School of Music, the William Paterson University, the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, the Victorian College of the Arts, the Queensland Conservatorium of Music and the Music Institute. Further pedagogical accomplishments to date include playing a major role in the initiation of, and directing, the instrumental music program for the Computer School, a middle school on the Upper West-Side of Manhattan.
